back yard labor day

I wrote this on labor day, but didn't post it because I couldn't get the pictures to load. So it's up now. :)

So I don't have the prettiest back yard. Since our house was the model home for the neighborhood, the designers did the backyard all up in a desert landscaping. Okay, maybe that is good for saving water and all, but it made the backyard completely useless. What's the point in having a backyard if you can't do anything back there? There's no place to run, or ride bikes, or get pets or put in an above ground pool or anything! You can't go out there barefooted, it's ugly, and the boys have pulled up the drip system, so the plants are dying. I have plans to pull out everything except the tree in the middle and put in fake grass (the nice stuff), along with a junglegym/fort but that's a LOT of work to do and it cost a lot of money. Plus we have other half-started projects around the house that have to be finished, so we have to get to those first.

The boys like to go out there when it's not too hot and play with their dumptrucks in the dirt. But that gets old after a while (not to mention hot) so they don't stay out there long.
Today however, the air was much cooler, espcecially when the wind hit. Isaac had been craving baby back ribs, so we threw 2 racks on the barbeque with some good ol honey barbeque sauce, and boiled up some corn on the cob. Isaac also swept and sprayed down the porch, and then helped me pull the kitchen table onto the porch so we could have our labor day barbeque lunch outside. :) The boys thought it was really cool to eat outside. They are funny eaters though. Hyrum only ate ribs (he called them chicken, and he must have ate at least 4) and grapes, and Ammon only ate corn and apples. lol

It was so relaxing to sit out there and eat dinner. Now I really want to get a patio set for our porch so we can eat out there more often. :)
